How it all began…
The Foodie Translators Facebook group, was created by Claire Cox and launched in January 2016. It was an instant success, with dozens of recipes being posted in the first few days by translators who have a passion for cooking. One member posted a handwritten recipe taken from her grandmother’s cookbook, another suggested producing a family cookbook from the dozens of recipes. Some others suggested using it as a fundraiser and proposed supporting Translators without Borders. As Translators without Borders (TWB) Volunteer Manager, I was quick to accept this proposal and the TWB Cookbook has progressed apace, culminating in its launch today.
This Cookbook is composed of recipes provided pro bono by supporters of Translators without Borders. It is a living, ongoing initiative, and anyone is welcome to contribute their own recipes, which must be original, not subject to copyright or taken from websites or cookbooks.
I want to thank all those who contributed to this project, especially Sophie Llewellyn Smith, Chris Thompson and Pavel Gudoshnikov, who expertly produced the online version. This is a fundraising initiative and we hope that those who download recipes will contribute to TWB via the Donate Button on the website.
Bon appétit!
